I appreciate these photographs because they find beauty and interest in simple subjects that are often overlooked. The 4th image is good example of this because of this repetition of the wires/pipes. They help move the viewers eye across the composition and take it in as a whole.
Individually, these pics are all very nicely structured. I think thematically, they might be a little jumbled. I really like the images with shoes, it would be cool to do a focused group on that subject. Pictures 2 and 3 are both very nicely composed in my opinion
There's a sort of starkness that's present in all of these that I find interesting. I appreciate the simplicity of your subject matter and the imposing compositions. The only photo that doesn't seem like it fits very well with the others is the second photo. It doensn't have the same range of light and dark so it stands out a little.
I really like the images of architecture, they are all well composed. I feel that photo nine and eight are too similar and your series would benefit from you picking one of the two.The symmetry of nine is strong compositionally, but eight has nice contrast with the dark tree branches.
At first I thought your image series was focusing on shoes left around town and immediately thought that was so cool! Perhaps in future weeks you could delve into that idea as people leave their footprints around town. If you’re interested in architecture, the houses in michanopy are like driving back into a time capsule and are beautiful to photograph!
Your second photo has great direction and an interesting perspective as well as good value. I think that your photos of architecture would be more interesting if taken from different perspectives, closer or further away, or obscured somehow
I think picture 2 is the strongest because of the heavy contrast and use of depth of field; the shoes really stand out compared to the rest of the picture even though most of the scenery is very silhouetted.
I was hoping that the shoes could have been in all of the compositions, it would have made an interesting symbolic theme in your photos. I enjoy the composition of photo 6, feeling lost in the distortion of what appears to be glass.

ReplyDeleteI like the general simple and rather calm mood this collection creates. I think photos 4-10 are really balanced in terms of light and contrast.
