Sydney Vaden Week 7

  1. Your use of repetition with the CD's in the 8th and 9th photos adds a cool effect to those photos. The photos where you use dramatic lighting on the face stand out the most to me due to their strong contrast. I would try using that effect on other objects that you photograph to create a consistency.

  2. In terms of concept, I think the ones that are the strongest have more dramatic lighting and unexpected angles. I also think the nondescript environments of first photo and the last three enhances the overall mood.

  3. You create a really interesting narrative using your subject as a character in the story your making, as well as with the camera angles, the contrasted lighting, and the poses.

  4. Your story and mood remain constant throughout all your images. The images with the model caught at more intense angles are more successful with telling this narrative so I would try to play more with those creative angles in the future.

  5. Your subject's sense of personality is showing through your photos in his expression captured. Take photos of your subject from different angles and closer and/or further away. A lot of the photos seem to show the subject at the same distance from the camera as well as from the same straight on angle.

  6. There's a good variety of photo angles and figure poses, but the last two might be too similar.

  7. There's a strong range of value and contrast in all of your photos, best executed in photos 8 and 10. The expressions in your model further dramatize the scene.

  8. There is an ongoing contrast and you experimented with variety of angles. Yet, it seems that in some of the photos the perspective could have been more unconventional, pushed beyond the limits that you have selected.
