I like that you focused on numbers and type in your environment. The series works well together as a whole. Some of the photographs are stronger than others. Maybe you could play with more angles instead of just straight on.
The theme is really strong in this series and has pretty good variety. You also seemed to pay attention to the rule of thirds in most of your pictures. A lot of your pictures look very grey and need a more contrasting range of values to highlight the subject a little better.
I see many of your photos are concentrating on portraying balance in the composition. I think they would have been more effective if you mixed your focus on balance with shifting perspectives and shot angles.
This series is very cohesive and has really nice textures throughout. The second photo has nice patterns and is very strong, but seems a little bright. All of your images are well balanced and I would agree with the other comments that there could be more diversity in depth of field and camera angles.
A lot of your images are rather dim. I saw a lot of middle grays and just dull tones so maybe ramp up the brightness or contrast in post production. You started to capture a lot of interesting textures and I thInk you would’ve benefitted from focusing in on these more such as image 1 and 7. This would have been a good opportunity to practice what Kashif talked about in class by shooting texture from the side so it doesn’t appear as merely pattern
Try some different angles in your shots. The last photo could use greater value range. These are very cohesive. It's good you are also looking at pattern. Keep it up. We are counting on you...
Your decision to stick to one theme of street art/signage makes these images work really well together. I think focusing on more contrast in these could make them stronger than they are already.
Ryan, you would benefit from shooting at much more varied perspectives. Even though your subject matter changes, your point of view becomes monotonous. Some of the compositional elements are quite clear to me, even though you've captured them in your own aesthetic way, while some of them are not clear to me at all. What compositional elements were in images 9 and 10? Is the image of the bus repetition? Brilliant! The repetition of the garbage bins was less successful. I would be careful with image 2, its really blown out. Otherwise, good images this week, much more variety of tones than last week, which were really grey, but you can still push your contrast a bit going further. Kashif
